Writers Guide

Here are some of the things we are looking for in your Message in a Bottle:

1. You only have one sheet of paper - As much as we would absolutely love to publish essays, we really can only accommodate letters that are succinct (no more than 300 to 1200 words).   So really take the time to make sure that what you are saying is done so in the most efficient way possible by staying on one topic.  And hey if you have more to say – toss out another bottle with another message!

2. Watch the Tides – Make sure that your message has direction.  By this we mean make sure that you have a clear topic that you are writing on (i.e. love, dating, saving money, working hard, studying, etc.)  This will help us to organize your message into the book more effectively, plus will allow your reader to really grasp the message you are sending.

3. Write from your Heart – Really work on making your message impact the reader.  Work on writing your message with emotion, let them feel what you were feeling, and give ‘em goose bumps.

4. Tell Us What Island You Are On – Make sure that you fill in all the fields in an online submission (or include the authors contact information for snail mail submissions).  We want to know where you are so that we can send you a copy of the book once it is published – plus we don’t publish anonymous Messages.
